Rules Overview

This is only a brief summary of some common rules. The official rules can be found in the HMW Bylaws.  Additional information can be found in the Covenants and Restrictions.

General

The rules are designed to make living pleasant for everyone. The restrictions, which the Board imposes upon the members, are for everyone’s benefit. Fines may be imposed for violations of the rules and regulations. Fines of $50 each day each rule is violated is not unusual. Any damage to any common property shall be charged to the responsible party.

Alterations

Prior to most any exterior alterations or additions to a building or grounds, a written request must be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval. The Board, at its sole discretion, may or may not approve any changes. You may submit an application to the architectural review board by using this form.

Noise

Avoid loud noises from televisions, stereo equipment, musical instruments, pets, and other disturbances. If you are disturbed, first attempt to notify the offender and resolve the problem. If the problem continues, then contact the Raleigh City Police, 919/890-3335 or 911.

Parking

Wrecked or junked or vehicles without current registration are not allowed. Trucks can not exceed three-quarter ton load capacity. No vehicles may be regularly parked on the street. You must park on paved parking areas.

Pool

Pool Hours are 9a.m. until sundown daily.  Generally the pool will be open for 4 months from mid-May to mid-September. You will need a key to open the gate.  Please see the complete list of pool regulations to ensure the safety of everyone.  There are no extra fees to use the pool.

Personal Pools

Personal, residential pools will be reviewed on a case by case basis.  Above ground pools are not allowed but inground pools may be considered.  Please fill out an architectural review form and submit to be considered.

Pets

Any inconvenience, damage, excrement, or unpleasantness caused by any pet shall be the sole responsibility of its owner. The City of Raleigh requires a pooper scooper to remove and dispose of pet excrement properly. All dogs and cats shall be kept under the direct control of their owners at all times and shall not be allowed to run free. Any pet that is running free will be picked up by a Raleigh humane officer – call 919/831-6311.
